Dr Reddys Laboratories Limited

In April 2007 Alchemia signed Dr Reddy's Laboratories Limited (NYSE: RDY) as its US marketing partner for generic fondaparinux.  Dr Reddy's is a global pharmaceutical company with a generics focus on North America and Europe.  In the US Dr Reddy's has received 38 generic drug approvals and has approximately 76 pending approval. 

Dr Reddy's was chosen as Alchemia's new marketing partner, from a pool of companies for several reasons.  Alchemia has worked with Dr Reddy's for several years, receiving key chemical intermediates manufactured to FDA standards on time and to budget.  Dr Reddy's also has extensive scale-up capacity and broad regulatory experience with ANDA filings.  In addition, the Company has a generics focus with increasing sales in the US.  In the past two years Dr Reddy's has driven the growth of its generic business with the acquisition of the betapharm Group in Germany and Roche's state-of-the-art active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) manufacturing plant in Mexico. 

The manufacturing rights to Alchemia's generic fondaparinux were also transferred to Dr Reddy's in 2007.  Dr Reddy's manufactures and markets cost competitive, high quality bulk active ingredients, finished doses and biologicals to FDA standards in over 100 countries.  As a bulk API manufacturer Dr Reddy's will be able to produce generic fondaparinux at an extremely competitive price, addressing the need to maintain pressure on cost of goods in a generic environment.  Dr Reddy's will also be responsible for the fill and finish process, covering the formulation and filing of the final syringe product.
